David T. Tunstall, CPA

I started in audit at Arthur Andersen and stayed there for 3 years (before they publicly had their issues). I then moved to financial reporting at AIG (before, too, they publicly had their issues). I was laid off from AIG the week of my wedding and when I came back a married man from my honeymoon I started ‘Tunstall Financial’, a bookkeeping & tax prep sole proprietorship in NYC. In 2004 I converted that business to an S-Corp. and renamed it ‘The Tunstall Organization, Inc.’ aka TTO.

TTO has been a boutique firm for start-ups, non-profits, and even restaurants (for a few years) since then. In 2017, I moved the business from NYC to Charlotte, NC, and for the past 6 years, our team has been anywhere from 1-4 contractors on the bookkeeping side and 0-1 tax preparers, depending on the season.

I’ve recently been more focused on being the ‘CFO’ for small businesses. In that role, I’m able to help business owners of businesses between $500K and $10M in revenues use their financial statements to focus on their objectives and reach their goals for their businesses.
